After years falling into disrepair, the Ramos family turned a decrepit neighborhood cantina to treasure with the East End’s Invasion Ice House. Set on the corner of Dumble Street and McKinney Street, the bar stood as an eyesore for many years before the Ramos family took on the task of renovating and reopening the space in spring 2016.
Street artist Wiley Robertson transformed the icehouse’s exterior, adding an eye-catching mural that centers around an invading UFO. Inside, a wrap-around bar and mix of tables offer guests a place to unwind and enjoy a cold beer. It’s also a prime spot to listen to the mix of live music performances and DJ nights, while feasting on fajitas from the Tako Box taco truck that serves up food in the Invasion parking lot.
Invasion Ice House is open Tuesday through Sunday.
