After establishing their Heights-set Shade, Chef Claire Smith and Russell Murrell expanded their neighborhood restaurant partnership in 2009 with Canopy—a cheerful, Montrose spot that showcases fresh, seasonally-changing cuisine.
Inside, the restaurant is cheery and inviting: Oak tree photographs dot the blue-washed walls and a one-of-a-kind wooden art installation hangs overhead.
The menus, created by Chef Smith, feature what she calls “global home cooking,” which ranges from casual comfort foods to sophisticated selections. Choose from crowd favorites like the buttermilk-fried pork loin, pecan-crusted rainbow trout and the scallion-and-bacon-infused mac and cheese. The restaurant also boasts a well-edited wine list, creative dessert line-up and house-made artisan breads.
