Inspired by France’s Côte d’Azur, chef/owner Sidney Degaine brought a piece of Europe to Montrose in fall 2016 with the opening of Café Azur. The French-trained talent teamed up with his wife to open the sunny, coastal concept in the former home of Brasserie Max & Julie.
Inside, aqua and white striped banquettes, azure glassware and blue-glass pendant lights help translate the concept’s Mediterranean vibe. On the menu, guests will find Provencal favorites like bouillabaisse, foie gras and ratatouille. Regulars swear by the octopus appetizer with potatoes, capers and lemon, followed by the seared jumbo sea scallop entrée with leeks, asparagus and caviar. Expect a well-edited wine list with a solid mix of French varieties.
Café Azur is open for dinner, Tuesday through Sunday.
