Sure, you could go to the AMC Theatre or even the Palladium and watch any new release if you want a typical, hum-drum movie experience. But if you want something with a little more edge, some pretty good food and probably a lot more fun, you should visit the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Katy and soon to be Sugar Land. This kitschy, tongue-in-cheek theatre experience can turn a boring date night into something special.

Alamo Drafthouse plays your typical new releases as well as their Signature Series of other films that you can’t always find at the now extinct Dollar Cinemas. They also offer a full service menu and bar, so no more missing the movie to get a refill or buy some popcorn. Staff is there to discreetly wait on you while you watch. A nice touch that you can’t even get at home.

The parking is easy too. The La Centerra location in Katy has ample parking for everyone and the new Sugar Land location should also provide the same. That location will be located in the historic Sugar Factory complex, which is being converted into a cool mixed use development. Tickets are about as easy to get as they are at the AMC, so it’s not likely you need to make special arrangements unless it is opening weekend. Also, pay attention to the pre-trailer credits if you show up early. They usually offer an entertaining perspective on the theatre and the movie you’re about to see.
