Presented as a Hispanic Heritage Series Concert, El Laurel de Apolo – Zarzuela from Madrid to the New World, will provide an opportunity to visit through song Spain’s Palacio de la Zarzuela where, in 1657, zarzuela, a dramatic genre that alternates between spoken and sung scenes, was performed. This exhilarating look at the early days of Spanish musical theater will be performed by Sonnambula, 2018-2019 Ensemble-in-Residence at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, in its Houston Early Music debut.
Full-season subscriptions may be purchased for $170 general admission and $130 senior admission. Individual tickets are available for $45 general admission, $35 senior admission and $15 for students with a valid student ID card. Children under the age of 15 receive free admission.
