For the LGBTQ community around the world, June is a month with special meaning. This is the month where most major cities celebrate LGBTQ Pride. From New York to San Francisco, Pride parades will be taking place. Houston is home to one of the largest celebrations in the south and this year Pride Houston has more to celebrate as it commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, the event that sparked the modern-day LGBTQ rights movement and is the reason why most parades take place at the end of June; to mark the same days that the riots originally took place at the Stonewall Inn in New York’s West Village.

There are many opportunities to join in the festivities, but one local brewery, Eureka Heights, is taking things to the next level with a special commemorative beer, as well as an opportunity to give back when you buy a pint from participating bars. These include LGBTQ favorites like Rip Cord and Pearl Bar. It also includes community ally bars like Flying Saucer Downtown, Axelrad, and Hay Merchant to name a. The campaign is “Pints For Pride” and it runs from May 20 to June 22.

“With this year marking the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, Eureka Heights would like to celebrate our Houston LGBTQ community. We will be releasing a limited edition of our most popular, award-winning beer, Buckle Bunny as Lavender Bunny during June. This lavender-hued beer will serve as a salute to the LGBTQ community for this monumental anniversary.” said Rob Eichenlaub, co-owner of Eureka Heights.

You read that correctly, Lavender Bunny will be an exciting lavender hue, a color tied closely to LGBTQ history and the community. A pint of Lavender Bunny and every other Eureka Heights brand will result in a donation of $1 going towards Pride Houston, Inc. The beer will be available in the tap-room at Eureka Heights as well as participating bars throughout the community. So, celebrate Pride and support the community with a sip of Lavender Bunny at Eureka Heights.
