Part grocery store, part community gathering place, the new Whole Foods Montrose (located on Waugh Drive at Dallas lest you get confused) is a foodie wonderland. From mountains of fresh, organic produce to the BBQ station—the chain’s newest Houston store is turning out to be a crowd pleaser.
There’s a breakfast taco stand, fresh prepared foods section, extensive butcher shop and even a beer and wine tasting bar. Shoppers are also drawn to the store’s Allegro Espresso Bar for their morning jolt or languorous evening sip with friends.
The 45,000-square-foot store is larger than Central Houston’s other Whole Foods store on Kirby. Meanwhile, Whole Foods is planning yet another store on Post Oak Boulevard in the Galleria area, which should start construction later this year.
In keeping with Whole Foods corporate mission, the Montrose store is also quite environmentally friendly. LED lighting is used throughout the store, which supplies some of its own power through solar panels. Two electric car charging stations are in the parking lot and a giant cistern collects rainwater from the roof to irrigate the abundance of plants around the property.
