Since opening in 1972, the revolving restaurant set atop downtown’s Hyatt Regency Houston hotel has impressed diners with unobstructed, 360-degree views of the city. Every 45 minutes, the circular dining room at Spindletop makes a full, 360-degree revolution, 34 floors above the ground. Throughout the years, the spot has played host to countless special events, anniversary celebrations and an estimated 1,800 marriage proposals.
Today, the romantic Spindletop has a new look and an ever-changing, seasonal menu that makes the most of local fare. Expect to find items such as seared tuna and the signature seafood paella, as well as pasta entrees, signature salads and house-made desserts. The avocado dome with jumbo lump crabmeat and salsa cruda is a must on the appetizer menu. Spindletop has joined with other Hyatt properties across the chain with a commitment to locally sourced ingredients and healthy options.
In October 2010 the restaurant reopened after a two-year hiatus following damage inflicted by Hurricane Ike. The $1.4 million renovation brought a more modern and bold look to the iconic restaurant.
Spindletop is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday.
