Moving Sidewalk, inspired by ZZ Top guitarist and Houston native Billy Gibbons’ first band, is the latest downtown drinkery. In the building where Goro & Gun once stood the owners have given the space a reboot, focusing on cocktails rather than ramen.
Beverage Director Alex Gregg, named on of “10 Bartenders to Watch” in 2014 by Beverage Media, curates the cocktail program. Guests will find not only classic drinks, but also a half dozen unique creations like the Little Reed Horses that blends Pisco and Pedro Ximenez Sherry with Greek yogurt, cucumber, celery seed and bitter lemon soda Collins. If a fancy cocktail isn’t for you, the friendly staff is happy to pour a shot or a cold beer.
Clean lines, ocean blue walls, chandeliers and a bar staff dressed in crisp blue shirts and aprons is a change from the Asian antique shop vibe of its predecessor. In its place is an intimate, candle lit setting perfect for pairs on date night.
