Midtown/Montrose

Houston has no shortage of craft beer, with 16 breweries across the city and more popping up almost monthly. And it’s the mission of the new Axelrad Beer Garden to shine a spotlight on Houston’s brew scene, from the oldest brewery in Texas, Saint Arnold Brewing Co., to newer brew spots like Karbach and Buffalo Bayou breweries.

The new beer garden made its home in Midtown’s historic Axelrad building, which once stood as a food market nearly one hundred years ago. The 2,000 square foot building still retains historic touches but with a few modern updates to welcome patrons to kick back and stay a while. Choose from a selection of wine and over 30 beers on tap then head to the garden, filled with indigenous plants and plenty of seating, or hammocks if the mood strikes.

Axelrad has also partnered with nearby Luigi’s Pizzeria and will dish out pie for hungry guests on a regular basis. Live music and movies are a regular occurrence for those seeking a little extra entertainment.
