A 2nd Cup

Set inside The Heights' Vineyard Church, Erica Raggett's non-profit A 2nd Cup coffee shop turns out a lot more than caffeine—its key focus is to help shed light on child sex trafficking in Houston.Raggett, a veterinary student-turned-teacher, started learning about Houston’s role in the crime back in December 2010 and set out to spread the word to other locals. Less than two years later, the visionary had developed partnerships with other anti-trafficking organizations in Houston and raised the initial $100,000 needed to open the coffee shop.Though A 2nd Cup is only open two days a week, it’s already developed a faithful following, not only because of its do-gooder mission, but also for its tasty Boomtown-roasted coffee drinks, free wifi and linger-worthy setting. It’s staffed by volunteers and proceeds go to fighting human trafficking and helping rehabilitate victims of the crime. A 2nd Cup is open Tuesday, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
