It's the Holiday Season. Parties, toasts, special programs, gatherings, and expectations to make it a memorable one. Especially in light of all going on in the world. We all seek togetherness. With friends, new and old, loved ones, family, and those chosen friends we consider our extended family.

If you're still in search of your ideal mate, take advantage of these holiday soirees to say hello to someone new. Don't let the cliques discourage you. Someone else at that party may feel just as awkward as you do, so reach out and introduce yourself. Ask how they know the host, what they do, where they're from, and take it from there. (And remember to take the host a little gift of thanks for their generosity. Nice dark chocolates, natural almonds, or even a bottle of Prosecco make nice gifts.)

But if your inbox is a little light on Evites this year, don't fret. Especially in Texas, thousands of singles have recently moved or relocated here. Everyone is someone new to the city initially. And it's hard around the holidays to feel detached from your usual crowd. So don't sit online wishing! Put on a nice shirt, hit the local Barnes & Noble, get a peppermint latte and shop for the perfect book or gift for yourself.

As matchmakers, we provide unlimited Dating Coaching for our clients. When they are new to the city, we often encourage a little "shopping" to establish yourself and possibly meet someone new. And it's not the online shopping you would expect. It's church shopping, gym shopping, coffee shop and even bookstore shopping. Don't fall in to the rut of always going to the same place at the same time, when the city has so much diversity to offer.

Whether you've lived in the same place for a long time, or you've yet to unpack your moving boxes, pop in to a new place and say hello to the fellow single who is perhaps doing the same. The holidays give us much needed time for rest, but also provides time for new opportunities. We have a new client in Dallas, for example, who just moved to the city, works out of state during most of the week, but is an avid cook and passionate foodie. We helped him list a variety of markets, culinary sources, and places to visit over the weekends. Who knows, he might also meet a fellow single there with the same interests.

The Gay Matchmaker is standing by, to introduce quality men based on compatibility. We'd love to hear from you. But if nothing else, let our gift to you this Holiday Season be one of heartfelt encouragement. You deserve love. Don't give up hope. Get out there. He's looking for you as hard as you are looking for him. Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays.
